Today's post comes from writer and artist Kira Elliott. I love Kira's gentle and kind perspective on the world, qualities which are especially present in her Writing to Open Your Heart workshops. I hope one day to be able to attend one of her classes in person (which will also be a great excuse to visit Detroit!).
Kira writes:
Now as an adult I strive understand there is a difference between generosity and giving. Generosity is free of obligations; it opens the heart, and creates warmth and connection between the giver and receiver. When I cultivate generosity the holidays become something I look forward to sharing with my loved ones.
Look back at the last year and consider: how did generosity open your heart? How can you cultivate generosity in the coming year?
How did generosity open my heart?
This year I played with a variety of people through InterPlay. I would have to say their willingness to engage and their generosity of spirit and play opened my heart to some wonderful connections.
Also, when we moved this summer our friend's generously donated their time and backs to help us and on a Holiday too!
My heart was overflowing when my friend Bridget visited and helped me in Creating Sacred Space.
I am so full of gratitude for my web of friends and family that generously supports me with love, time and friendships.
How can you cultivate generosity in the coming year?
I'm going to keep showing up for people. Saying "Yes!" as much as possible to friends in need and be available to listen.
What does generosity mean to you? How do you want to spread it this year?
Wrapping you around with infinite love and generosity,
Christine
P.S.
Speaking of generosity of spirit - when my friend +Hallelujah Truth found out that Owl was one of my totem animals she gifted me with the beautiful ornament!
Another lovely post for Reverb14! And I love these peeks into what is decorating your tree for the holidays =)
ReplyDeleteThis comment made my heart smile - thanks for popping in and I'm loving sharing little parts of what makes up my world :)
DeleteLove that we were both called to the "do all the good" quote. Sounds like you've danced very beautifully in the energy of generosity this year. And love your owl and how he came to you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Deborah! I haven't had a chance to pop over to your blog today but I will! I love synchronicity :) Yes - my owl is one of my personal favorites - it's actually a small painted gourd.
DeleteJust clicked over to have a look at your sacred space and it looks lovely. You're so lucky to be surrounded by people that get you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tat - I truly am!
