Dragon Fly Medicine

Dear friends,

I've always loved Dragonflies.  Today I revisited a picture I took earlier this year on a Girl Scout Camp out.  So I looked into the totem/medicine meeting today on the Spirit Animal website:

The dragonfly totem carries the wisdom of transformation and adaptability in life. As spirit animal, the dragonfly is connected to the symbolism of change and light. When the dragonfly shows up in your life, it may remind you to bring a bit more lightness and joy into your life. Those who have this animal as totem may be inclined to delve deep into their emotions and shine their true colors.

 Dragonfly Meaning

The dragonfly is generally associated with the symbolic meaning of transformation. Here are common meanings for this animal totem:

  • Change and transformation
  • Adaptability
  • Joy, lightness of being
  • Symbol of the realm of emotions, invitation to dive deeper into your feeling
  • Being on the lookout for illusions and deceits, whether are external or personal
  • Connection with nature’s spirits, fairies realm
  •
  •
  • Wrapping you around with infinite love and transformation,
  • Christine

  2. Very interesting that once I was aware of this concept of totem animal meaning, I started seeing it everywhere, on the cover of books, pins and necklaces that others wear, but especially I noticed dragonflies coming near me and 'waiting' for me to notice them! Great post, thanks.

  3. What a fabulous photo! It's always a joy to spot one, and it's always fun and helpful to check out an animal's medicine, isn't it? Something else I think about when I consider Dragonfly is combining emotion with thought. They start their lives as nymphs in water (emotion) and grow to fly (air- thoughts).

  5. I love dragonflies and all they represent. This summer I couldn't get over how many I saw. Butterflies have some similar energy and I actually had two butterflies hang out with me on a little island in the St. Croix River...sitting on my arms and my hands, drinking from the water in between my fingers...it was quite an experience. There were four of us there and I was the only one they spent time with. They flew up and down the shore wherever I walked for quite some time. What a gift.

  8. What a wonderful photo! I am reminded that my mother gave me a dragonfly braclett years ago. It's pouring with rain here today and I needed to remember that this too is only temporary. The dragonflies will be back in no time. In the meantime I can wear my mother's gift. Thank you!
